NOTE: Please be aware that books that need excessive editing outside of the package picked may lead to extra fees. If this should happen, the fees will be discussed with the author before any work is done. Additionally, the packages listed below do not include a second edit after the author reviews changes.

Developmental Editing (Note: This service is specifically designed for romantic fiction, including paranormal and suspense elements.)

A developmental editor is typically the first editor to touch your manuscript after it's been written--or at any stage prior to copy editing and proofreading. This type of editing focuses on the "big picture." Your editor will examine the manuscript and make substantive changes, including but not limited to:
  • refining your ideas,
  • rewriting where needed
  • helping you establish your "voice" if needed
  • addressing the overall flow and clarity of the manuscript
  • plot holes
Once revisions are completed, it is recommended that your manuscript move on to the content editing stage.

Content Editing (Note: This service is geared toward romance and all subgenres of romance. If outside of this genre, please feel free to inquire about a possible collaboration with us!)

A content editor should be (if not the first) the second person to see your manuscript before any other editing begins. This type of edit is an in-depth examination of your entire manuscript that focuses on character, plot development, and overall style of writing and may involve restructuring sentences when necessary.

A content edit:
  • Ensures consistency in character and plot development
  • Addresses incomplete sentences
  • Provides honest feedback with target audience and industry standards in mind
  • Smooths out overall construction of sentences and paragraphs

Once all revisions have been completed, your manuscript will be ready for copy editing and proofreading!

Copy Editing

A copy editor is usually the last person who touches the text of a manuscript before it goes into production. The goal of a copy edit is to address flaws on a very technical level – to make sure the writing that appears on the page is in accordance with industry standards. Think high-end proofreading. (Typical turnaround time is approx. 10-14 days from date received.)

A copy edit:
  • Corrects spelling, grammar, punctuation, and syntax
  • Ensures consistency in spelling, hyphenation, numerals, fonts, and capitalization
  • Flags ambiguous or factually incorrect statements
  • Maintains internal consistency.
Internal consistency means checking that your plot, setting, and character traits don’t have discrepancies. For example if on page 50 you write: John sat in English listening to a lecture, and then on page 52 you write John wished his science teacher would stop talking , it’s a copy editor’s job to point that out.

**NOTE: If major editing issues are found once the editing process is started, discussion of additional fees might be necessary,

Proofreading
.0083 per word


 
Authors who use me as their editor |  A package discount for authors also purchasing copy editing will be .0135 per word for both services combined.

Proofreading is done on a final draft and includes line-by-line correction of spelling, grammar, and minor sentence structure issues. Each proofread will receive two passes before being sent back to the author.

**Anything under 25,000 words is automatically $200, subject to lesser charges as determined by the editor on a case-by-case basis. (Ex: A 5k proofread will may be charged $40 instead of $200.)*


Note: Allow 7-10 days for proofing services to be complete.

Rush Service
50% of total fee

Oops! So you've taken longer to get your project done than you expected and now you're panicking because that deadline is looming over your head. No worries! We have you covered! | Our rush service is designed to save the day. We know how important it is for you to meet your deadlines, so we've put together this service to ensure you make it on time and keep your readers happy.

Add our rush service to your editing package for a 50% additional fee based on the total amount of your chosen editing package. (Ex: 60,000 words x .012 (copy editing) = $720 + $360 (50% rush fee) = $1,080 total project fee.

Did you know that standard blurbs are approx. 150 words or less? If you need help trimming those excess words or just need another set of eyes to check for errors and readability, this service is for you! (Typical turnaround time is approx. 2-4 days.)

Take your pre-written blurb to the next level with my blurb remodeling service. I will work closely with your existing content to transform it into a compelling, reader-grabbing summary that captures the essence of your story. 

My goal is to enhance your blurb without changing the core ideas or vision. I focus on polishing the language, highlighting key details, and sharpening the hook to draw readers in.

The service includes:

- Collaborative remodeling of your current blurb 
- Incorporation of relevant genre keywords to align with your book's category
- Up to 3 rounds of revisions to ensure the blurb reflects your goals

This is not a content creation service - I use your original blurb as the foundation. My aim is to refine what's already there into a blurb that hooks readers and effectively conveys the heart of your book. 

While I incorporate relevant keywords, this service does not guarantee increased SEO. The intent is improving quality and engagement.

Using Createspace? Add an additional $50 for paperback formatting if you are purchasing the ebook formatting package. If you are purchasing the paperback formatting ONLY, a flat rate of $150 will be applied.

Expand your readership by having your stories translated into Spanish! Or vice versa!

No Google translations here! Let our native Spanish speaking professional review your novel, word by word, to lovingly, professionally, and accurately transform your work from English to Spanish (or Spanish to English!) to reach a broader base. 

This service does not include traditional editing, so we highly recommend you ensure your document has been fully edited prior to using this service. If you are in need of copy editing or proofreading, please refer to the package pricing (highly recommended and saves you money!).
