Brandi Aquino lives in Ohio with her husband, their four children, and an ever-growing amount of pets. When she isn't reading, editing, or penning her own masterpieces, you can find her soaking in an action movie with her family or walking park trails with her two dogs.

Brandi graduated summa cum laude and holds a Bachelor of Arts in English. Additionally, she is an International and USA Today Bestselling Author (under pen name J.C. Valentine), giving her vast insider knowledge of the market.

Her love for books and her desire to help fellow authors deliver the best finished product to their readers possible drove Brandi into the field of editing. She began working at Booktrope, a community-based publisher for independent authors, in April 2015. Since then, she has worked with a number of talented, bestselling and award-winning authors.

What Brandi Will Do for You

As your editor, I will ensure that your manuscript is the best it can be by eliminating common errors, such as missing and misused words, correcting grammar and punctuation in accordance with the Chicago Manual of Style, and pointing out inconsistencies within the story. I specialize in copy editing and proofreading, but I will offer substantive--developmental--editing in rare instances. No matter what level of editing you require, my priority is to maintain your voice as an author while making your work shine! In addition to the Chicago Manual of Style, I also utilize the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, Oxford Dictionary, and at times Grammar Girl unless otherwise requested.

Editing and proofreading are important steps that many self-published authors overlook. I am committed to respecting your personal style of writing while assisting in making it the best it can be. Poor editing detracts from the story and shapes the reader experience, which goes a long way in determining if they will come back for more.

As an author myself, I know how costly hiring a professional editor can be, but what I've learned is this: Don't assume that your eyes will catch all of your mistakes. There is simply no substitute for having someone with knowledge and expertise to take a second look. Remember, you only get one chance to make a good first impression, so let me help you make it a great one.
